New Delhi, Apr 19 (JKNS): Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan has stressed the need for India’s armed forces to prepare for future challenges beyond past operations, calling for deeper coordination among the Army, Navy and Air Force in an evolving security landscape.

As per news agency JKNS, General Chauhan said that while ‘Operation Sindoor’ launched after the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack offered critical lessons, the forces must now gear up for future scenarios rather than replicate previous strategies.

He described the operation as a “unique multi-domain mission” executed across land, air and sea, while also integrating cyber, electromagnetic and cognitive domains, marking a significant shift in modern warfare practices.

Highlighting changing geopolitical realities, the CDS noted that emerging threats and rapid technological advancements demand seamless integration of new systems with existing military capabilities to maintain operational superiority.

He underlined the importance of enhanced synergy among the three services, stating that while individual forces are strengthening domain-specific capabilities, these efforts must be harmonised into a unified and cohesive structure.

General Chauhan also emphasized that situational awareness will be a decisive factor in future conflicts, with the armed forces prioritising information dominance and real-time coordination to stay ahead of adversaries.

On structural reforms, he expressed confidence that the long-pending Theatre Command system is close to implementation, describing it as a more effective framework that separates force generation from operational deployment, thereby improving readiness and efficiency.

He further said that earlier differences among services on Theatre Commands have largely been resolved, and the initiative is expected to move forward soon with necessary approvals.

Reiterating the concept of constant preparedness, the CDS asserted that the armed forces must remain ready “24×7, 365 days” to respond to any emerging threat.

He added that India’s future security framework will depend on how effectively it blends traditional military strength with advanced technologies, strengthens inter-service coordination and prepares for increasingly complex, multi-domain conflicts. (JKNS)
