Srinagar, July 21 (JKNS): The Department of Computer Applications, Government College for Women (GCW) M.A. Road Srinagar, in collaboration with NIELIT Srinagar, on Monday inaugurated a one-week bootcamp on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Drones.
The Autonomous Technology’, under the SwaYaan project funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Dr. Umer Iqbal and Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Fayaz, Joint Directors at NIELIT as per news agency JKNS said, “AI is revolutionising drone technology with vast applications in agriculture, disaster management, logistics, and surveillance. This field is opening up new and promising career opportunities for youth.”
Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Farooq, said the bootcamp will cover a wide range of technical sessions to provide students with an industry-oriented learning experience. “This programme is aimed at bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, through expert sessions, live demos, and practical exposure,” she stated.
Prof. Rouf Ali, Head of the Department of Computer Applications, presented the technical roadmap of the bootcamp and extended a formal vote of thanks. He informed participants about the week-long hands-on sessions and the thematic areas to be explored.
Dr. Junaid Latief, also from the Department of Computer Applications, conducted the inaugural session. Highlighting the importance of emerging technology, he said, “AI-powered drones are transforming industries, making it vital for students to be equipped with future-ready skills.” (JKNS)
