Speaking at the NXT Summit in New Delhi, as per news agency JKNS, Prime Minister Modi said the world stands at a crucial turning point where supply chains are again being disrupted and the priorities of global institutions like the United Nations are being questioned.

“Supply chains are being disrupted again. The priorities of global institutions like the United Nations are being questioned, and in such a period, our India is moving ahead even in these adverse circumstances,” Modi said.

He added that India is among the most discussed countries globally at this critical juncture, with leaders and experts across the world placing strong hope in the country’s role in shaping the future.

Referring to the recent visit of Finland’s President Alexander Stubb, the Prime Minister said the Finnish leader observed that the direction of the world will increasingly be decided by the Global South and India will play the biggest role in shaping that direction.

Highlighting global challenges, Modi also said the world has witnessed COVID-19, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and emerging geopolitical tensions, which have triggered a severe energy crisis. He emphasized that such crises test a nation’s resilience and called for collective responsibility from political parties, media, social organisations, industry and citizens to face challenges unitedly.

“Crisis times are a test for the entire nation. We must deal with situations with calmness and patience and move forward by increasing public confidence and awareness. When everyone works together, the country’s ability to overcome crises increases exponentially,” the Prime Minister said. (JKNS)
