Karnah: (JKNS) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Karnah Javed Ahmad Mirchal has strongly condemned the reported firing incident targeting National Conference president and former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah in Jammu, calling it deeply concerning for democratic values and demanding a thorough investigation into the matter.

The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday evening in the Greater Kailash area of Jammu during a wedding function. Dr. Farooq Abdullah was leaving the venue after attending the ceremony when an individual allegedly approached and fired a shot with a pistol. However, his security personnel acted swiftly, overpowered the attacker, and ensured that Dr. Abdullah remained unharmed.

Reacting to the incident, MLA Karnah Javed Ahmad Mirchal stated that Dr. Farooq Abdullah is an important political figure of the country and such an attack on him is highly condemnable. He emphasized that political differences may exist, but violence can never be justified.

Mirchal urged the government and concerned authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and ensure strict punishment for the person responsible, so that such incidents are prevented in the future.

He also expressed relief that Dr. Farooq Abdullah remained safe in the incident, noting that it could have turned into a major tragedy.(JKNS)
