The Centre has been observing August 14 as ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ since 2021 to remember those who lost their lives during the violence and displacement that followed the Partition.

“Today we mark #PartitionHorrorsRemembranceDay. We recall the courage of all those who were impacted by Partition,” Modi said.

He said the lives of those affected by Partition reflected the strength of the human spirit, as people overcame adversity, rebuilt their lives and contributed to the country’s progress.

The Prime Minister called for renewed efforts to preserve harmony and brotherhood, saying the occasion should deepen the resolve to collectively build a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

“Let us further strengthen the national spirit of goodwill and unity,” he said. (JKNS)
