Srinagar, Aug 14 (JKNS): Ahead of Independence Day and the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, award-winning artisan Shaheena Akter from Haer-vet, Kulgam, is giving the National Flag a unique Kashmiri artistic touch by hand-stitching the Tricolour using traditional needle and ari embroidery techniques.

The painstaking work has taken Shaheena around four to five days of dedicated handwork, blending patriotic expression with Kashmir’s generations-old craftsmanship, as per news agency JKNS.

The artisan’s unique creation highlights the region’s indigenous embroidery traditions while offering a distinctive expression of national pride ahead of August 15.

Among millions of Tricolours that will be displayed across the country on Independence Day, the flag crafted by Shaheena in Kulgam stands out for the patience, precision and traditional skill involved in its making.

Her work also underscores the potential of Kashmir’s traditional artisanship to gain wider recognition by connecting indigenous crafts with contemporary themes and national occasions. (JKNS)
