During the drive, large patches of naturally grown wild bhang were uprooted and destroyed to prevent their misuse and curb the spread of drug abuse among the youth.

Police said the drive forms part of its continued efforts to eradicate the menace of narcotics from society and discourage the cultivation and consumption of cannabis in the area. It added that similar drives will continue in the coming days to identify and eliminate wild bhang growth from other vulnerable locations.

Meanwhile, members of the local civil society of Hajin appreciated the initiative taken by the police. They urged the authorities to intensify such drives in other areas as well to safeguard the younger generation from the harmful effects of drug addiction.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding the cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt with as per the law.

Our consistent actions against such anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace. (JKNS)
