Continuous Rainfall: District Disaster Management teams Intensifies Field Monitoring Across Baramullah

Baramulla, July 22 (JKNS): In view of the continuous rainfall across Baramulla district, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Baramulla is on high alert and conducting field inspections to assess the situation in their respective jurisdictions.

Various sectoral officers visited vulnerable locations, monitored water levels in rivers and nallahs, reviewed flood preparedness measures, and assessed the availability of essential resources to ensure prompt response in case of any emergency.

 

At Sopore, Additional Deputy Commissioner S.A. Raina, accompanied by a team of officers, visited Mahrajpora, Tarzoo, Ningli and Sheer Colony to monitor the water level of the River Jhelum and inspect vulnerable points along the embankments. He informed that adequate sandbags are available to strengthen the bunds, if required, and stated that the situation is presently under control.

 

At Uri, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Prince Kumar, accompanied by a team of officers, inspected Nambla, Bela Salamabad, Machikrand, Bandi, Trikanjan, Boniyar, Mayan, Hapat Nallah and Hajipeer Nallah. The inspection revealed that water levels at all locations were within the normal range and no untoward incident was reported.

 

At Pattan, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gulzar Ahmad visited Matipora, Singhpora, Hanjiveera and other vulnerable spots to monitor water levels in the River Jhelum and local nallahs. During the inspection, engineers from the Flood Irrigation Division, Narbal, apprised the SDM about the availability of adequate sandbags for emergency response. The SDM also inspected various health institutions to review the availability of medical staff, essential medicines and emergency preparedness, besides interacting with attendants to obtain feedback on healthcare services.

 

At Tangmarg, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mir Jaliel, accompanied by a team of officers, inspected Nallah Ferozpora to monitor the water level and review flood preparedness in the area.

 

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Baramulla is maintaining close surveillance across all sub-divisions. All concerned departments have been directed to remain fully prepared, ensure round-the-clock monitoring of vulnerable locations, and respond promptly to any emergency.

 

The public has been advised to remain vigilant, avoid venturing near rivers and nallahs, and strictly follow advisories issued by the district administration. (JKNS)
