Pattan, July 22 (JKNS): Amid continuous rainfall across north Kashmir, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Pattan, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad, on Wednesday reviewed flood preparedness by inspecting the Community Health Centre (CHC) Pattan and several flood-prone areas of the subdivision.
During the visit, the SDM inspected Hanjiweera, Mattipora, KP Payeen, Khore, Singhpora Hurcheck and other vulnerable villages to assess the ground situation and review the administration’s preparedness in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
Dr. Gulzar directed all line departments to remain on high alert, ensure close inter-departmental coordination and maintain readiness for prompt response to any emergency. At CHC Pattan, he reviewed emergency arrangements, availability of essential medicines, healthcare services and other critical facilities.
Speaking to reporters, the SDM appealed to the public to avoid venturing near rivers, streams and other vulnerable locations as rainfall continues across the region.
“The situation is under control, but the administration is continuously monitoring water levels and weather conditions. All departments have been kept on alert, and necessary measures are in place to deal with any eventuality,” he said.
He further urged residents to follow official advisories, avoid unnecessary movement in flood-prone areas and cooperate with the administration to ensure public safety during the ongoing spell of rain. (JKNS)
