Handwara July 1 (JKNS): In a major action against narcotics-linked illegal activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Handwara Police, in close coordination with the District Administration, demolished storage shed which was illegally constructed by a known drug peddler upon Government Land in Tumina Tarathpora area of Tehsil Tarathpora .
The illigally constructed storage shed was found under the illegal occupation of Fareed Ahmad Kalgan S/o Ali Jaan Kalgan R/ o Tumina, who is involved in Case FIR No. 30/2021 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Vilgam .
Acting firmly against individuals involved in narcotics-related activities and unlawful encroachments, the joint team carried out the retrieval operation after completing all necessary legal procedures.
In a determined effort to curb the cultivation and spread of narcotic substances, Handwara Police, in collaboration with members of civil society, conducted a special anti-narcotics drive and destroyed wild hemp plants growing in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara .
The operation was carried out as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, aimed at eliminating the roots of drug abuse and promoting a drug-free society.
Police teams, accompanied by prominent civil society members and local volunteers, identified and destroyed naturally grown wild hemp at various locations in the area.
The initiative reflects the strong commitment of Handwara Police towards safeguarding youth from the menace of drugs and underscores the importance of community participation in combating narcotics.
The active involvement of civil society members highlights the collective resolve to create a safer, healthier, and drug-free environment.
