Srinagar, June 30 (JKNS): Baramulla Police on Tuesday issued a traffic advisory restricting the movement of tourist vehicles on the Gulmarg-Srinagar route after 5:00 PM during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 to facilitate the safe and smooth movement of Yatra convoys.
According to the advisory, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, no tourist vehicle will be allowed to travel from Gulmarg towards Srinagar after 5:00 PM. Likewise, movement of tourist vehicles from Srinagar towards Gulmarg will also remain suspended after the same time.
Police said the restrictions will remain in force throughout the notified Yatra period as part of traffic management measures and to ensure the uninterrupted movement of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra convoys.
Tourists have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and complete both onward and return travel within the prescribed timings. Visitors have also been urged to follow the directions of police and traffic personnel deployed along the route.
Baramulla Police said the restrictions have been imposed purely in the interest of public safety, traffic regulation and the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
The police also sought cooperation from tourists, hoteliers, transport operators and the general public, stating that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to ensure the safety and security of all road users.
The advisory has been issued in coordination with the Traffic Headquarters J&K and Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir. (JKNS)
