Anantnag, Aug 29 (JKNS): A 35-year-old man from Kulgam died at a private hospital in Anantnag on Saturday, following which his family alleged medical negligence and staged a protest at the hospital premises.

Details available with news agency JKNS stated that, the deceased, identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Nabi Wani, a resident of Qaimoh, Kulgam, was admitted to Mid City Private Hospital on KP Road, Naibasti, Anantnag, for kidney stone surgery.

 

The patient underwent surgery and his condition was stable after the procedure. However, on Saturday morning, his condition deteriorated and he subsequently died at the hospital.

 

Following the death, the deceased’s family members alleged negligence on the part of the doctors and staged a protest at the hospital. Police reached the spot and initiated verification to ascertain the facts and circumstances surrounding the death.

 

Meanwhile, hospital in it’s version said, the patient had undergone Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) and was stable after the procedure.

 

“The patient was fine yesterday evening and oral medicines were also started,” it said.

 

Statement further added that the patient went for a walk around the ward in the morning, where he suddenly collapsed.

 

“It could possibly be an embolism or a myocardial infarction (MI),” it said, adding that the autopsy report is awaited.

 

Hospital maintained that the patient was otherwise stable and completely fine following the surgery. (JKNS)
