Dixit had earlier served as the head of the Intelligence Bureau’s Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB) in Srinagar, where he oversaw intelligence operations across Jammu, Kashmir and Leh.

Officials said he played an important role in monitoring internal security and strengthening intelligence coordination during the period following the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

His tenure in Kashmir is understood to have focused on enhancing ground-level intelligence gathering, inter-agency coordination and addressing evolving security challenges in the region.

Dixit succeeds the outgoing Intelligence Bureau chief and is expected to assume charge shortly. His appointment comes at a time when internal security and intelligence coordination continue to remain key priorities for the country. (JKNS)
