Srinagar, Jun 25 (JKNS): Hundreds of mourners gathered along the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar on Thursday to participate in 9th Muharram observances, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in Karbala.
According to the eyewitnesses as per news agency JKNS, large numbers of people from different parts of the city assembled to take part in religious processions, recitations and traditional mourning rituals associated with the holy month.
The gathering took place amid heightened emotions and devotion, with mourners paying tribute to the sacrifices of Karbala through prayers, elegies and other religious observances.
Security personnel and civil administration officials remained deployed across the area to facilitate the smooth conduct of the event and monitor the overall situation.
Officials maintained a close watch throughout the observance to ensure the procession passed peacefully.
