Anantnag, June 17 (JKNS): At least two persons were reported dead and several others injured after a vehicle plunged into a deep gorge along the Lidder River in the Aru area of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the accident involved a vehicle bearing registration number JK03C-6737, which reportedly skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near the Lidder River.

They said two persons died on the spot, while several others sustained injuries in the incident.

Soon after the accident, local police, Traffic Police and emergency response teams rushed to the spot and launched rescue and recovery operations.

Officials said rescue efforts were underway and the exact number of casualties and injured persons was being ascertained.

Meanwhile, authorities have launched further investigations into the incident. More details are awaited. (JKNS)
