According to the Indian Army’s official communication, Information Warfare: Battleground of the Digital Age examines how warfare is increasingly shifting into the digital domain, focusing on challenges posed by misinformation, cyber threats, psychological operations and the expanding role of information ecosystems in modern conflict.

The book explores information as a strategic instrument of national power and analyses its influence on military operations, public opinion, geopolitical competition and national security decision-making. It further examines emerging challenges including cyber warfare, disinformation campaigns, social media manipulation, cognitive warfare, artificial intelligence and information operations carried out by both state and non-state actors.

The publication was featured alongside several notable works, including The Sports Legends of Defence Services & CAPF (Vol I & II) by Smt Vaneeta Vaid, India’s Water Security – Threats, Strategies and Solutions by Major General Akash Kaushik, Echoes From Academy Lines by Lieutenant Colonel Herald Ford Mochari and Defence Reimagined: 33 Domains to Revolutionise National Security by Shivam Arya.

The presentation reflected the increasing emphasis on strategic scholarship and informed policy discussions to address complex and evolving security concerns. Collectively, the featured publications covered themes ranging from military leadership and defence innovation to water security, sporting excellence within the Armed Forces and the impact of emerging technologies on future conflicts.

Rahul Pandit, an Information Technology and e-Governance professional with more than two decades of experience, has worked extensively in digital transformation, cyber security, smart city initiatives and public sector technology projects. Through the book, he aims to contribute to the national conversation on information warfare and the strategic implications of the digital age. (JKNS)
