Jammu, Jun 14 (JKNS): In a major show of support for the 100-Day Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS), in collaboration with MOBE Club Jammu, on Sunday organised a grand Cyclothon in Jammu, drawing nearly 500 participants who joined the fitness and anti-drug awareness campaign under the Fit India Movement
As per news agency JKNS, DYSS-JK, in collaboration with MOBE Club Jammu organized a grand Cyclothon at the Athletic Ground, University of Jammu, on Sunday.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 500 students, members of the Mobe Club, youth, sportspersons, officers, Physical Education personnel, coaches, and fitness enthusiasts.
The programme commenced with an Anti-Drug Pledge administered by Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Youth Services & Sports, J&K, wherein all participants pledged to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society. Thereafter, the DG flagged off the Cyclothon, marking the beginning of the event.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Inderjeet Singh, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports, Jammu; Tinna Mahajan, Additional Secretary, YSS; Megha Bhogia, Deputy Director Planning, YSS; and Sh. Sukhdev Raj, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Jammu.
Addressing the gathering, the DG YSS emphasized the transformative role of sports and physical activity in shaping healthy, disciplined, and responsible citizens.
She highlighted that the Cyclothon represented a meaningful convergence of the Fit India Movement and the 100 Days Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, aimed at promoting fitness, healthy lifestyles, and awareness against drug abuse.
She stated that sports and fitness serve as powerful tools for channelizing the energy of youth towards constructive pursuits and away from the menace of substance abuse. She urged participants to become ambassadors of fitness and advocates of a drug-free society.
The rally traversed designated routes across Jammu city, spreading the message of fitness, discipline, environmental responsibility, and social awareness. Participants enthusiastically carried banners and placards advocating healthy living and collective action against drug abuse.
On the culmination of the event, medals and participation certificates were distributed among the participants in recognition of their enthusiastic involvement and commitment to the cause.
The programme concluded with a renewed pledge to remain physically active, stay away from drugs, and contribute towards building a Fit India and a Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir. (JKNS)
