New Delhi, June 7 (JKNS): Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh on Sunday said that the 12-year tenure of the Narendra Modi-led government has transformed India into an aspirational nation driven by opportunity, innovation and self-confidence, asserting that governance reforms and citizen-centric policies have fundamentally changed how Indians view their future.
Speaking to the media, as per news agency JKNS, Dr Jitendra Singh said the country has witnessed unprecedented growth in entrepreneurship, science, technology and innovation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Highlighting achievements in the startup ecosystem, he said the number of startups in India has increased from around 350–400 in 2014 to more than 2.3 lakh at present, generating nearly 25 lakh jobs. He added that almost half of these startups are based in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, while around 35–39 per cent are women-led.
The Minister said India’s space sector has emerged as a major success story, with the number of space startups growing from single digits a few years ago to nearly 400 today. He noted that India’s space economy, currently valued at around $9 billion, is projected to reach nearly $45 billion within the next seven to eight years.
Dr Singh said several governance reforms introduced by the Modi government, including self-attestation of documents and the abolition of interviews for various categories of government jobs, have enhanced transparency and strengthened merit-based opportunities for youth.
He described the rise of an aspirational mindset among Indians as one of the most significant achievements of the last 12 years.
“The biggest transformation has been the change in mindset. Today, young people from small towns believe that they too can succeed and achieve their goals through talent and hard work,” he said.
Referring to India’s achievements in science and technology, the Minister said missions like Chandrayaan Programme have generated widespread public interest in innovation and strengthened confidence in the country’s scientific capabilities.
He also highlighted the opening of strategic sectors such as space and parts of the nuclear ecosystem to private participation, saying the move has accelerated innovation and expanded career opportunities for young Indians.
Dr Jitendra Singh further said welfare schemes are being implemented transparently without discrimination, strengthening public trust in governance and institutions.
He said India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047 will be driven by innovation, entrepreneurship, public-private partnerships, youth participation and greater involvement of women in nation-building.
“The goal is not merely economic growth but the creation of an empowered, self-reliant and aspirational India capable of leading globally,” he said. (JKNS)
