Boniyar Jun 2 (JKNS): Demonstrating its continued commitment towards the welfare of border communities, the Indian Army conducted a comprehensive medical outreach programme in the villages of Chotali and Sumwali in Baramulla district on 02 June 2026 under the aegis of Dagger Division and Pir Panjal Brigade, in coordination with the District Medical Authorities of Baramulla.
The initiative was organised to provide accessible healthcare facilities to residents residing in remote areas along the Line of Control, where medical support and specialised treatment often remain limited due to difficult terrain and weather conditions.
A joint team comprising Army medical officers, specialists from the District Medical Department, nursing staff, and paramedical personnel examined and treated a large number of villagers during the programme. Free medical consultations, essential medicines, basic diagnostic screening, and health counselling were provided to people of all age groups.
Particular attention was given to elderly citizens, women, and children, with medical teams addressing seasonal ailments, respiratory infections, blood pressure-related complications, and other routine health concerns. Awareness sessions on sanitation, nutrition, preventive healthcare, and healthy lifestyle practices were also conducted to encourage long-term community well-being.
The outreach programme witnessed an encouraging response from the local population, who appreciated the collaborative efforts undertaken to bring quality healthcare services closer to their doorstep. The initiative further strengthened the bond of trust, cooperation, and mutual support between the Indian Army, civil administration, and the residents of the border areas.
