Karnah kupwara(JKNS): Teachers’ Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and warmth across schools in Karnah Valley on 5 September, as students and teachers came together to honour the contribution of educators in shaping young minds and building responsible citizens.
Schools including GM New Light Public School Taad, Army Goodwill School Hajinar, Saif Memorial New Light Public School Tangdar, Iqbal Memorial School Tangdar, Iqra Model Public School Kandi, New Light Public School Chitterkote and Dream Valley School Tangdar organized special programmes featuring speeches, cultural performances, games, student activities and appreciation ceremonies.
At Iqra Model Public School Kandi, the celebration carried a special message of equality and sensitivity towards students from different economic backgrounds. Speaking to the media, Ishfaq Ahmad Mir, Principal of Iqra Model Public School Kandi, said the school management has adopted a no-gift policy for Teachers’ Day because many students may not be able to afford gifts for their teachers.
He said the school does not want any student to feel uncomfortable or disadvantaged simply because they cannot purchase a gift. Instead, the school itself presented appreciation certificates to teachers in recognition of their dedication and service.
The initiative sends a strong message that the value of a teacher should not be measured by the price of a gift, but by the respect, gratitude and love shown by students.
The Teachers’ Day programme at Iqra Model Public School also reflected the institution’s emphasis on moral and spiritual education. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by Ahadith, duas and Islamic teachings highlighting the importance of knowledge, teachers and respect for educators.
Students expressed their gratitude through speeches, cultural performances and other presentations, emphasizing that education is not limited to academic achievement but also includes character building, discipline, moral values and respect for others.
At Army Goodwill School Hajinar, teachers and students participated enthusiastically in games and performances. Principal Mr. Aftaab Ahmad Khawaja appreciated the dedication of the teaching staff and highlighted their role in the academic, emotional and overall development of students.
GM New Light Public School Taad witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents and guests, while Saif Memorial New Light Public School Tangdar and Iqbal Memorial School Tangdar organized appreciation activities celebrating the special bond between teachers and students.
New Light Public School Chitterkote and Dream Valley School Tangdar also marked the occasion through special programmes, performances and expressions of gratitude towards their teachers.
Across Karnah Valley, the celebrations carried a common message that teachers are not merely providers of academic knowledge but also mentors, guides, role models and builders of character.
The no-gift initiative at Iqra Model Public School added a meaningful dimension to the celebrations by promoting equality, dignity and inclusiveness, ensuring that students do not feel financial pressure to purchase gifts for their teachers.
