During the drive, officials examined the quality and freshness of consumable items, sanitation standards, price lists and overall market practices to prevent overcharging, hoarding and the sale of expired or substandard products.

Shopkeepers and traders were instructed to maintain proper hygiene, display approved rate lists at visible places and strictly adhere to food safety guidelines. The officials also urged market stakeholders to ensure the availability of quality products and avoid unfair trade practices during the festive season.

Authorities said the inspection drive was aimed at safeguarding consumer interests and maintaining transparency in the markets ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, adding that similar inspections will continue in other areas to ensure smooth and fair market functioning. (JKNS)
