Legal Awareness Drive on POSH Act Held at GDC Magam; Experts Stress Workplace Safety for Women

Budgam, Apr 17 (JKNS): The Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Magam organized an awareness programme on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act at Government Degree College (GDC) Magam, aimed at promoting legal awareness and ensuring a safe and respectful workplace environment for women.

Advocate Sheikh Ishfaq Rasool delivered an insightful and informative speech during the programme, highlighting the key provisions of the POSH Act. He emphasized the importance of maintaining dignity and safety for women in workplaces and elaborated on the legal remedies available to victims of sexual harassment.

He also urged institutions to establish effective complaint redressal mechanisms in line with the law.

 

The programme witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and civil society representatives, who appreciated the initiative for addressing such a critical issue.

 

The interactive session encouraged open discussion, enabling participants to better understand their rights and responsibilities under the Act.

The event was attended by the Judicial Magistrate (Munsiff Court), Magam, the Principal of GDC Magam, and other government officials, reflecting strong institutional support for the cause of gender justice and workplace safety.

Officials from TLSC Magam reiterated their commitment to organizing more such awareness programmes to enhance legal literacy and empower the community.

 

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all organizers and participants in making the event a success. (JKNS)
