Shopian Police Strike Hard Against Drugs: Peddler Arrested, 5.61 Grams Heroin Seized

Shopian, Mar 31 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained efforts to eliminate the menace of drugs from society, Shopian Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered a Heroine like substance from his possession.

Acting on reliable information, a police party from Police Station Shopian intercepted a load carrier bearing registration number JK13D-4373 traveling from Dashipora towards Shopian, it reads.

Statement reads that, during the search, a Heroine-like substance weighing approximately 5.61 grams was recovered from the possession of one individual namely Umar Aijaz Itoo resident of Narsinghpora Kulgam. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 43/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Shopian and further investigation has been initiated to uncover forward and backward linkages and dismantle the wider drug network involved, it reads.

Shopian Police reiterates its firm commitment to maintaining a drug-free society and urges the general public to cooperate in this noble mission. Citizens are requested to share any information related to drug abuse or peddling on the helpline number 9596768831 (PCR Shopian). The identity of the informer will be kept strictly confidential.
