Sopore Police Conclude Sports Activities under Civic Action Programme 2025–26; DIG NKR Graces Event

Sopore, Mar 28 (JKNS): Sopore Police on Saturday organised the Grand Finale of sports activities under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–26, marking the successful culmination of a series of youth-centric sporting events conducted across Police District Sopore.

DIG North Kashmir Range, Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman, IPS, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The event was attended by SSP Sopore Shri Iftkhar Talib–JKPS, other senior officers of Police and Civil Administration, members of civil society, representatives of various organisations, heads of institutions, teachers and a large gathering of students and the general public.

The Civic Action Programme witnessed the organisation of around 20 activities during the calendar year 2025–26, including sports events, cultural programmes, educational initiatives and anti-drug awareness campaigns, with active participation from government and private schools, sports clubs, youth groups, and civil society organisations.

The Grand Finale featured the conclusion of four major sporting events, namely Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, and Kho-Kho, showcasing the talent, discipline, and sportsmanship of the participating youth. The event also included the distribution of trophies and prizes to winners and runners-up.

Addressing the gathering, SSP Sopore emphasised the importance of constructive engagement of youth and reiterated that policing goes beyond law enforcement, focusing on building trust and strengthening community bonds. He stated, “Our youth are the strength of Sopore. Through such initiatives, we aim to provide positive platforms that promote discipline, confidence and a sense of purpose among them.”

*The Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of Sopore Police in organising such impactful programmes and encouraged continued collaboration between police, civil society, and educational institutions to guide youth towards positive and productive pursuits. He also urged the youth to stay away from negative influences and channelise their energy into constructive activities, highlighting that such platforms are being actively provided by Jammu and Kashmir Police.*

Sopore Police reaffirmed their commitment to sustained community engagement and youth empowerment initiatives aimed at promoting peace, harmony and positive development across the district. (JKNS)
