A series of engaging activities, including a quiz competition, painting competition, and slogan writing contest, were organized during the programme. Hundreds of students participated enthusiastically, showcasing their interest in understanding the changing dynamics of meteorology and environmental science.

The event served as a meaningful platform for interaction, where experts and academicians shared insights on climate resilience, atmospheric science, and environmental sustainability. The discussions highlighted the importance of scientific research, innovation, and collective action in addressing global environmental challenges.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness among young learners about the importance of weather monitoring and its role in understanding climate patterns. It also encouraged students to take an active interest in environmental responsibility, forecasting, and disaster preparedness.

Officials emphasized that such outreach programmes are essential in nurturing scientific curiosity and instilling a sense of responsibility towards environmental protection among the younger generation.

In the painting competition, Shabnum Ashraf secured the first position, followed by Swastika and Mir Safa in second and third places respectively. In the slogan writing competition, Hadiya Qayoom secured the top position. The quiz competition saw Team B, comprising Abar Asif, Fozia Bilal, Uzma Mushtaq, Afa Ahmad, and Bilal, emerge as winners.

All winners were awarded mementoes and certificates, while participation certificates were distributed among all students. In his address, Deputy Chief Education Officer Rafiq Ahmad Mir encouraged students to stay updated with advancements in meteorology and suggested visits to Indian meteorological centres to better understand both basic and advanced technologies. He, along with Chairman Sajad Ahmad Wani, later distributed awards among the top performers.

The organizers expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, for its continuous support in successfully conducting the celebrations.

A similar programme was also held at Army Goodwill School Bandipora, where a debate competition was organized. Fatimuta Zohra secured the first position, while Waseem Abaid and Hamid Khan secured second and third places respectively. In the quiz competition, Team “A” (Tawi House) won the trophy.

Participants across all venues were provided refreshments, lunch, and necessary stationery to support their activities. The two-day programme concluded successfully, covering three districts, Kupwara, Bandipora, and Srinagar under the guidance of the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
