The event, held at Community Hall Dangiwacha, witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior citizens, who showcased a range of skill-based activities reflecting rich Kashmiri culture. These included tailoring and cutting, Tilla work, Sozni work, traditional use of the Kashmiri Kangri (fire pot), Yender (spinning wheel), traditional Patij (carpet) making, and carpentry skills.

The programme aimed to encourage senior citizens to remain active, creative, and socially engaged while promoting community participation and preserving local heritage. Participants expressed gratitude to the Social Welfare Officer and the team for organising the event, recalling cherished memories and sharing their experiences.

“Our life was very happy in the past, but now we are adapting to the new digital era,” said one elderly participant, appreciating the blend of tradition and modernity.

Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Dangiwacha Rafiabad, Bharat Bhushan, along with staff members of the Social Welfare Department, attended the programme, which highlighted various traditional Kashmiri practices demonstrated by local communities, including Kangri-making, Patij weaving, traditional hairdressing, tailoring, and Yender usage.
