PDL/TDL General Body Meeting Held in Sopore; New Bodies Elected, Key Demands Raised

Union Calls for Protection and Regularization of Casual Labourers

Sopore, Feb 7 (JKNS): The PDL/TDL Electrical Employees Union North Baramulla held a general body meeting in Amargrah Sopore, with North Circle Baramulla President Manzoor Ahmad Aakhoon presiding over the gathering.

The meeting was attended by Circle President Naseer Ahmad Lone, Circle Vice President Zaffarullah, , Secretary Shakeel Ahmad, District President Fayaz Ahmad Khan, Vice President Gh Mohiuudin Pandith, Secretary Bilal Ahmad and other members also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, new district-level,Baramulla, Wagoora, Tangmarg, Sopore,tehsil-level, and unit-level bodies were elected to strengthen the union. Aakhoon emphasized the need for protection of casual laborers and daily wagers working in the PDD department, many of whom have been working without regularization for a long time.

 

The union demanded compensation for families of employees who lost their lives in the line of duty and regularization of casual laborers and daily wagers. Aakhoon praised the dedication of PDD employees who work tirelessly to restore power supply during adverse weather conditions.

The union also thanked the Chief Engineer and other officials for releasing the pending salary of an employee, Farooq Abdullah, who had not received payment for four years. (JKNS)
