Illegal Mining Crackdown: Baramulla Police Seize Vehicles, Detect Massive Sand Dumping Site

Baramulla, Feb 8 (JKNS): Intensifying its crackdown on illegal mining, Baramulla Police seized a tipper and a tractor involved in the unlawful transportation of sand and unearthed a large-scale illegal sand dumping site in the Chakloo area of Baramulla, dealing a major blow to mineral smugglers operating in the district.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, Baramulla Police, as part of its ongoing drive against illegal mining activities, intercepted and seized one tipper bearing registration number JK05B1445 and one tractor bearing chassis number IVY5300DCKA002504 both of which were found involved in the illegal transportation of sand at Chakloo Baramulla.

During the operation, an illegal sand dumping site containing approximately 315 MTS of dumped material was also identified and seized at Chakloo Baramulla, it reads.

 

Necessary legal proceedings have been initiated under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMRD Act), it reads.

Statement further reads that, Police reiterates its commitment to take firm action against illegal mining and assures the general public that such enforcement drives will continue on a regular basis to prevent unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals. (JKNS)
