New Delhi: External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar today stated that India-Canada relations have been “steadily progressing in the last few months,” as both nations work to restore and reinvigorate mechanisms essential for advancing the partnership.
Speaking in New Delhi during his meeting with the Foreign Minister of Canada, Anita Anand, Dr. Jaishankar emphasized that India’s approach to the bilateral relationship is to “move forward with a positive mindset.”
The External Affairs Minister highlighted that a comprehensive and “ambitious roadmap” for cooperation had been prepared by both sides for the discussions. This roadmap covers collaboration in various key domains, including trade, investment, civil nuclear collaboration, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and energy.
Dr. Jaishankar also underscored the shared global outlook of the two countries, noting that India and Canada have a long tradition of being active in world affairs and are strong proponents of effective multilateralism and climate action. The meeting signals a concerted effort by both New Delhi and Ottawa to build a forward-looking and comprehensive strategic partnership.
