UT-Level Census Coordination Committee Constituted in J&K for Census 2027

Srinagar, Aug 18 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday ordered the constitution of a Union Territory Level Census Coordination Committee for the smooth planning, implementation, monitoring, and timely completion of the upcoming Population Census 2027.

According to Government Order accessed by news agency JKNS, the committee will be chaired by the Chief Secretary of J&K. The Director of Census Operations, J&K has been appointed as the convener.

The members of the panel include Administrative Secretaries of the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, Finance Department, Housing & Urban Development Department, Revenue Department, School Education Department, and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department, besides the Director Planning (Expenditure Division-II, Finance Department).

The terms of reference mandate the committee to coordinate all Census-related activities in the Union Territory, ensure timely availability of infrastructure, logistics, and resources, and periodically review the progress of Census 2027 operations.

Officials said the formation of the committee marks the first major step by the UT Government in preparing for the nationwide decennial population exercise. (JKNS)
