Srinagar, Aug 18 (JKNS): Despite recent reshuffles in the medical sector, several officials in the Health Department continue to hold the same postings for over six years, raising concerns over alleged favouritism and selective implementation of transfer orders.

Health and Education Minister had earlier assured a broad reshuffle after reviewing healthcare measures across Jammu and Kashmir.

Details available with news agency JKNS stated that many doctors and staff at various levels were shifted to new postings, several employees reportedly remain in their positions despite the government’s rotational transfer policy.

Sources told JKNS that a medical educationist stationed at Srinagar Airport for several years, is still not getting transfers even as colleagues were moved elsewhere in the latest transfer list.

“There was no mention of any change for this official, while others were relocated to different hospitals,” they added.

Further the question is, what is medical educationist’s work at Srinagar Airport?. He must be posted in colleges, universities, but from past several years he ia stationed at Airport, can’t understand why so?.

Many others with other departments are posted with Favouritism, but we see at various levels either in the education or medical department these types of things happen and the government needs to take note of it, sources keeping an eye on issue said.

Employees allege that this selective approach in implementing transfers creates administrative imbalance and adversely affects service delivery.

In recent weeks, Education Minister Sakina Itoo made surprise visits to several hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir, where she found a lack of doctors, non-availability of specialists during night hours, poor cleanliness, and other deficiencies.

She ordered strict action against any negligence at any level, stressing that patient care remains the top priority of the Omar Abdullah-led government.

Repeated attempts to reach senior officials in the Health Department for comment went unanswered until this report was filed. (JKNS)
