Rajouri, June 26 (JKNS): In view of the rainy season and heightened risk of flash floods and waterlogging across Rajouri district, the Deputy Commissioner has issued an official order directing all departments to stay vigilant and implement precautionary measures to mitigate potential threats.
In an official order issued by Deputy commssioner Rajouri a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS reads, In light of the onset of rainy season and the heightened risk of flash floods and waterlogging in various areas of District Rajouri, all concerned departments are advised to remain vigilant and take immediate precautionary measures to mitigate any potential threats.
Accordingly the following directives are issued for strict compliance, ADCs/SDM shall oversee preparedness and response efforts in their respective subdivisions, ensuring timely coordination among field staff & constitute Tehsil-wise teams & sub-Division wise control rooms for proper coordination & response, it reads.
Superintending Engineer, PW(R&B) is directed to inspect and ensure the safety of roads, bridges, and related infrastructure, with special attention to flood-prone stretches, it reads.
Order reads that, Executive Officers of Municipal Committees shall ensure that all drains, culverts, and waste channels are thoroughly cleaned and remain free from obstructions to facilitate the uninterrupted flow of stormwater. Furthermore, Tehsildars, within their respective jurisdictions, shall monitor this activity-assisted by Executive Officers in urban areas and by Block Development Officers (BDOs) in rural areas.
Order reads, Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control shall regularly monitor the water levels of rivers, nallahs, and vulnerable catchment areas, and issue alerts as necessary.
Border Road Organization All officers of the Border Roads Organization shall maintain close coordination with the District Control Room (01962-295895) to ensure an effective and timely response in the event of any emergency. They shall also ensure that all culverts, crossways, and drainage systems along the highway and Border Roads are inspected and cleared of any obstructions to prevent waterlogging and ensure unobstructed flow during heavy rains, it reads.
All departments must maintain close inter-agency communication and activate their emergency response plans. Rapid action teams should be kept in readiness, and regular updates must be submitted to the District Control Room.
