Srinagar: The longest-surviving Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander, Farooq Nali, was killed in a pre-dawn encounter in the Kadar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam.

A senior police officer, sharing details about the Kulgam encounter, told the news agency JKNS that the longest-surviving Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander, Farooq Nali, was killed in the ongoing encounter.

He said the slain terrorist had been active for approximately nine to ten years and was involved in numerous terrorist activities. He added that the body of Farooq was retrieved and the others are being recovered.

Meanwhile, DIG South Kashmir Javid Iqbal told reporters that during the exchange of fire, five terrorists were killed, and two soldiers sustained injuries, who are said to be stable.—(JKNS)
