CM, Omar assures no removal of Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) chapter from textbooks

Srinagar: The controversy surrounding the alleged removal of the chapter on Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) from school textbooks has been addressed by the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, Omar Abdullah and government officials, assuring that the chapter will not be deleted.

As per the details collected by the news agency JKNS, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reassured that there would be no deletion of the chapter.

“The matter has already been taken up by Sakina Itoo Sahiba as soon as this issue was brought to the attention of the government,” the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said in a tweet on X.

Additionally, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Chief Spokesperson and MLA from Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, also said that the chapter on the revered saint Sheikh-ul-Alam would remain in the curriculum. “The Education Minister has directed the Principal Secretary to address and rectify the issue found in the PDF version of the textbooks,” Sadiq said.

Notably, the issue surfaced after concerns were raised regarding discrepancies in the digital version of the textbooks, prompting widespread discussions. However, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the matter will be swiftly resolved.—(JKNS)
