Jammu admin bans sale and use of fire creakers

The administration in Jammu division banned the sale and use of fire creakers within the 5-KM radius along the line of control in the region.

In an order of which a copy lies with Kashmir Scroll reads, that it has come to the attention of the undersigned that a huge amount of fire crackers are being busted in the entire district during wedding seasons in and around the wedding venues, both rural and urban.

He said the bursting of firecrackers at the venue near the international border sometimes creates
the confusion among the security forces as well as the local public residing on the border, which, if left unattended, may be presumed to be cross-border firing.

The officer said that such practices, if not stopped, may lead to fear amongst the general public and arising
security concerns also.

Now, therefore, in exercise of powers vested in me under Section 144 of Cr.PC, I, Harvinder Singh, IAS Addl. District Magistrate, Jammu do hereby order that there will be a total ban against
the sale or use of all kind of firecrackers within 5 kilometers from the International Border/Line
of Control in District Jammu.

This order shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders.

Sufficient publication of the order shall be given by making announcements through Prasar Bharti.
(AIR). Jammu and the Information Department, and by this office, the Senior Superintendent of Police,
Jammu, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars, BDOs, and EOs of Blocks and Municipalities in Border Areas

Any person found guilty of a violation of this order shall be prosecuted and punished as per law under
Section 188 of the IPC

In view of the requirements of the situation, which has become emergent, this order is being passed ex parte the order reads.(KS)
