Jammu and Kashmir are a beautiful valley located in north of India. It has been called as “Heaven on Earth” for its scenic beauty and cool climate. But in spite it being a popular tourist spot, it has also been a hub for infiltration and terrorist attacks ever since the Independence. It a breeding ground of separatist ambition and is surrounded by Pak and China on either side. The conflict between the militant groups and Indian Armed Forces has led to much causality in the valley. Many civilians die, as a result of being targeted by various militant groups, for political leverage, for making the population hostile or to stop any rebellion against the activities this Militant group carry out. The terrorist violence has caused an extensive damage to private and public property, leading to a large number of people leaving the valley. Even foreign tourists are not spared at times. These gun and grenade crazy militants have blown up over 633 school buildings and 333 bridges during the last decade. This insanity doesn’t stop at destroying the public property but even the private ones. Those civilians who have toiled hard and have spent there ever last penny in building houses and shop are also targeted.
Often during cross fire by a surprise attack done by terrorist civilian get causality and have to face the blunt. There are many cases of forced marriage and conversion of minorities in this region. Women are abducted, raped and killed as deemed fit. When kidnapping is done in broad day light then carefree movement at night for anyone is just a dream. Being a minority is a sin and following the orders of this Militant group is a necessity for survival. After the abrogation of Article 370, a lot of heat has built up in the valley and these atrocities against both the armed forces and the civil population was on a rise until this year. There is a sudden decrease of militant activities as the local population who are against these terrorists. The people of valley are looking forward to a better Kashmir to live in, they are fighting against these terror group in their own ways. They don’t want their children to fight for this unfruitful cause, they want peace and to see their next generation live free of the fear, like any other state of the country.
This war against Pakistan and its allies in Kashmir is not an ordinary one. A lot of blood has been spilled in Kashmir, a lot of citizens have fallen a pray to the guns alongside the brave men for army and police who have laid down their lives to finish the last level of the long going brutal game. The old system has rotten and needed many amends which can be seen now if not rapidly but at a steady pace. To safeguard values we hold dear and for the land where our Sufis, acharyas and saints have been worshipping for centuries we need to win. As the valley is now fighting to finish this for once and for all as the adversary is makes a last-ditch effort to thrive and return the valley back to its old state.
