The SAEINDIA Collegiate Club on Thursday organised the first logo designing competition at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.
The event was presided over by Director NIT, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal, who was Chief Guest, while Institute’s Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari was ‘Guest of Honor’ on the occasion.
Dr. H.S Pali, faculty coordinator of the club along with all conveners and committee members attended the felicitation ceremony of the mega event.
Addressing the gathering, Director NIT, Prof. Sehgal said the main motive of such an event is to spread the awareness about graphic designing and enhance creativity in the students.
He appreciated the organizers and stated that such activities are the need of the hour for the all-round development.
Prof. Sehgal said this club will continue to act as a platform for students wherein they can showcase their talent and skills to be professionals.
He emphasized that it is up to the members and students to advance the club by holding awareness workshops both on and off-campus.
Institute’s Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari in his address highlighted the importance of graphic designing in the business world and stated that such events will encourage students to think out of the box.
“Everyday more and more companies are building their in-house creative teams and the need and demand for graphic and visual communication designers are increasing rapidly,” he said.
Prof. Bukhari said graphic designing is an effective way for promotion of any information in an attractive way. Graphic designing in India is becoming an increasingly relevant and sought after profession, he said.
On the occasion, Dr. H. S. Pali also highlighted the effectiveness of the event. He encouraged the students to participate in such events aimed to bring out their leadership skills and technical growth.
He said all attendees got a chance to share their opinion, thoughts and suggestions. It gave the self-taught graphic designers an informal education in designing platform, Dr. Pali said.
The event witnessed active participation of students from different batches.
The entries were taken in online mode and winners were decided based on various criteria. Later the Director NIT, Prof. Sehgal announced winners of the competition.
The first position was bagged by Dhruv Sharma, 2nd year B.Tech student of Mechanical Engineering, While second position was grabbed by Deepak Tiwari, 2nd year B.Tech student of Mechanical Engineering.
The winners were awarded with certificates and cash prize of ₹500/- each along with annual membership of SAEINDIA.
The event concluded by proposing a vote of thanks to the director, all judges, conveners and committee members to make this event a huge success.
The student members of the committee as well as the performers were also appreciated for their efforts and hard work.
