CUK VC reviews progress on NEP-2020 implementation

Ganderbal, May 31: To review the status of the implementation of National Educational Policy-2020 (NEP), teaching learning activities, examinations, and ongoing admission process through the Central University Entrance Test 2022, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah chaired a meeting of all the Deans of Schools, Heads and Coordinators of the department here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah underscored the need of organising workshops on NEP for sensitisation and awareness of the faculty members so that the Policy would be implemented from the ensuing academic session. “The primary objective of the NEP is to move from teacher centric to student centric, information centric to knowledge centric, marks centric to skills centric, examination centric to experimental centric, learning centric to research centric, and choice centric to competency centric,” he said, adding, the Policy emphasizes “Equitable access to the highest quality education for all learners regardless of social or economic background.”

Responding to the presentations made by all the Deans, Heads and Coordinators on their roadmap for implementation of the NEP in their respective programmes, Prof. Shah said the varsity has already constituted an NEP-2020 implementation committee and asked its members to implement the policy in letter and spirit. CUK Vice Chancellor, expressed satisfaction over the teaching learning activities conducted by all the departments and asked the faculty members to ensure that the syllabi of the students are covered within the stipulated time frame so that examinations are held on time. Prof. Shah said the university is receiving an overwhelming response from the students during the ongoing admission process.

Addressing the gathering, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, who was flanked by the Controller of Examinations, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir and Finance Officer, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, said, the NEP-2020 implementation committee has already chalked out a map for the teaching departments for starting the holistic and multidisciplinary education in a phased manner. He said holistic and multidisciplinary education would aim to develop capacities of human beings -intellectual, aesthetic, social, physical, emotional, and moral in an integrated manner. Prof. Zargar asked the teaching departments to get the requisite approvals from the School Boards and Boards of Studies, before the policy is implemented, in respective departments.
