Ganderbal, May 31: The World No Tobacco Day was observed in the departments of Zoology, Botany and Biotechnology in the School of Life Sciences, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) here on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by faculty members, research scholars and students.
From the Zoology Department, faculty members Mr. Irfan Ahmed Noorani and Dr Javed Tantray, highlighted the importance of the day and impact of tobacco on human health and environment. From the Biotechnology Department, Dr. Owais Muhammad Bhat and Dr Saif Lone organised a lecture to raise awareness regarding the rampant tobacco consumption and its ill effects on human health. From the Department of Botany, Dr Rafiq Lone Dr. Shaista and Dr. Shanaz organised poster making activity among the students of the various departments. The programme concluded with a pledge on no smoking.
