He said the week is a global initiative of the World Glaucoma Association (WGA) that puts a spotlight on glaucoma as the leading cause of preventable irreversible blindness worldwide.

To mark World Glaucoma Week (6th -12th March), the Associated Hospital GMC Rajouri is highlighting the importance of early detection in slowing the progression of glaucoma and that regular eye tests are the only way to detect ‘symptomless’ glaucoma early. The Medical Superintendent appreciated the efforts of Ophthalmologists Dr. Shazia Qayoom (Assistant Professor), Dr. Jyoti Katoch (A Grade Consultant), Dr. Rajeev Sharma (B Grade Consultant) and team of the Ophthalmology department of the hospital.
