53% active positive cases are from micro containment zones in Ganderbal: DC Briefs media on current Covid scenario in district

GANDERBAL, JUNE 17: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna today briefed the media on the current Covid scenario and mitigation efforts put in place in the district.

While giving details, the DC said that the active cases have drastically decreased in the district this month. She said only 378 case are active in the district out of which 344 cases are in home isolation, 28 are in District Hospital besides 6 patients are referred to outside district for tertiary care.

Giving details regarding active positive cases, she said last week about 47 percent population of active cases was from micro containment zones. Micro containment zones witnessed slight increase this week and now about 53 percent active positive population is from these zones, she added.

She appealed to people especially from micro containment zones to provide full cooperation to the authorities who visit these zones for sampling and testing adding that these zones are notified for their safety.

Elaborating on categorization of districts in various colour zones, the DC said that categorization of districts is based on five parameters viz weekly positive cases, positivity, death rate, vaccination coverage and bed occupancy in district. She said that district Ganderbal is in the Yellow zone and appealed to people to follow the COVID appropriate behavior strictly as they followed earlier so that our district comes in the Green zone.
