Celebrates Int’l Yoga Day by hosting series of events
Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan club of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for women, Gandhi Nagar organised a Symposium on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, here today.
With a strong emphasis on fostering awareness and prevention, this event served as a platform for students to showcase their knowledge and critical thinking skills.
The students emphasized the collective responsibility of society to address drug abuse effectively and highlighted the importance of comprehensive prevention programs. The event successfully promoted critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork among the participants as they navigated the complex dimensions of drug abuse.
The panel of esteemed judges, consisting of Prof Mamta Gupta (HOD & Dean Commerce), Prof Rajni Dogra (Hod Economics) and Prof.Anupama Sharma (PO NSS Unit 2) meticulously evaluated the performances of each team. Their expertise and impartiality ensured a fair evaluation process. The top-performing students were awarded prizes and the effectiveness of their arguments.
The college principal Prof. Minu Mahajan extended heartfelt gratitude to all the participants who contributed to the success of the event. Their dedication and commitment to addressing drug abuse and creating awareness will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the society, she added.
The whole event was coordinated by Prof. Rashmi Kumari, Convenor NMBA Committee and other organising members were Prof Paramjeet Singh, Prof Swarn Singh, Prof Kusum and Prof. Sunita.
Meanwhile, NSS Unit I and Unit II of the College celebrated the International Day of Yoga with enthusiasm in presence of the College Principal, NSS Coordinator, NSS Programme officers and NSS Volunteers. The celebrations continued for three days and concluded today.
On the first day, NSS Volunteers performed Yoga with their families at Home and posted their pictures in respective Whatsapp group and Social Media like Facebook, Instagram etc to amplify the impact of Yoga Day in social media platforms.
On the second day, 21/06/2023- NSS Coordinator Prof Mala Bhasin and NSS Programme officers of Unit I(Prof Sugandha Mahajan) and Unit II(Prof Anupama Sharma) and NSS Volunteers participated in Yoga demonstration at Govt MAM College organized by Dean Student Welfare in Collaboration with Educational NGO Heartfullness.
On the third and final day today, an awareness session on benefits of Yoga was organized for the NSS Volunteers. They were briefed about the essence of Yogic exercises on the health of individuals. They were told that Yoga has a holistic approach to wellness and helps in coping with daily issues, constant worries and health problems from an aware and positive state of mind. Through Yoga, one develops mindfulness, improves brain power, begins to heal, opens up the mental and emotional blockages, gives the body movement and encourages flexibility, improved breathing.
