Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Helpline (WHL-181)through its Campaigner Bilal Bhat organized seminar on Elmination of Violence on Women and Girls at Govt.Degree College women Pulwama.Large number of students,staff participated the Seminar.

On the occasion Dr Yasmeen Farooq principal of the college were apprised the students to break Your Silence on Domestic Violence etc.Take advantage of all Centrally sponsored schemes of Department of Social Welfare Jammu and Kashmir,said Bilal Bhat.

The WHL-181 is a project of the Union Ministry of Women & Child Development and it is being run by Mission Directorate Women Empowerment of Department of Social Welfare in UT of J&K.

Speaking on the occasion, Campaigner cum project coordinator WHL-181 Bilal Bhat highlighted the overall services provided by the helpline. Giving details, he said the helpline provides 24-hour immediate response to women in distress and represents them before the appropriate service providers such as police and legal authorities.

He said the one-stop centre also provides services like hospital assistance, emergency response and psychological support/counselling, temporary shelter, family counselling etc.

Bhat further informed the participants that they can get help from the helpline in case of domestic violence, dowry abuse, mental torture, sexual assault, eve-teasing, cyber-crime, child sexual abuse, rape, economical violence or any other violence.

While stating that “suicide is not a solution”, the project coordinator said the purpose of one-stop centres is to provide integrated services to women and children affected by domestic violence, sexual harassment, emotional and psychological abuse.

The programme hosted by Dr Satindar Singh.The other faculty members attended were Prof.Saima Syed ,Dr Asma Syed ,Dr Atif Ashraf Wani ,Mr Ajaz Rasool & other faculty members. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Asma Syed .
