Srinagar, Aug 17 (JKNS): The Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu & Kashmir, has commenced selection trials for its Academy of Excellence for Hockey and Academy of Excellence for Taekwondo at Khel Gaon, Nagrota, Jammu.
The trials have witnessed an enthusiastic response from young athletes across Jammu, with boys and girls participating across Under-14, Under-15, Under-17, Under-19 and Open Age categories. The trials will continue until 19 August 2026.
A key highlight of these Academies of Excellence is that the training programme is being offered completely free of cost. Young aspirants from Jammu and its districts who are passionate about Hockey or Taekwondo can pursue structured training and further develop their sporting potential through this initiative.
The Hockey selection trials are being conducted under the guidance of renowned coach Mr.Jagjeet Singh Reen, ,
while the Taekwondo trials are being led by dedicated coach Mr.Atul Pangotra.
The trials are being conducted at Khel Gaon, Nagrota, one of the Directorate’s well-established sports facilities, providing a strong sporting environment for young athletes.
The establishment of these Academies reflects the visionary approach of Ms. Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Youth Services & Sports, J&K, towards providing talented youngsters with accessible, quality sports training and creating a stronger pathway for sporting excellence in Jammu & Kashmir.
