Inayat Jehangir Wins Fourth Consecutive Singles Title at Srinagar Open Tennis Championship

Srinagar: Inayat Jehangir bagged his fourth consecutive Singles title while Hardeep Singh and Paras Kachroo bagged the doubles title at Srinagar Open Tennis Championship 2026 which concluded at Gindun Sports Complex on Sunday.

Areena Bilal won the Under-10 girls event while Aizah Masoodi finished runner up.

The doubles final between Hardeep-Paras pair and  Mir Jameel-Haider Hussain was a fitting end to the tournament as the title match went to a tie break after both the teams has won a set apiece.

Both the teams were neck and neck, exchangingdl service breaks during the time break with Hardeep- Paras finally prevailing 13-11.

The singles final was a lopsided affair as Jehangir ropmed home with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Shubhkarman Singh. This was his fourth consecutive Srinagar Open Tennis Championship Singles title.

However, the defending champion faced a stiff challenge in the semifinal from veteran tennis player Deepak Singh. The match lasted more than an hour with Jehangir prevailing 8-6.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Security) Sajad Khaliq Bhat was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and gave away the trophies to the winners.

As many as 72 matches were played at the three-day event which has become a permanent fixture for the tennis lovers from Jammu and Kashmir.

This year saw participation players from Andaman, Rajasthan, Haryana and Bihar also.

While 31 players took  part in the singles event, 36 players competed in the doubles event.

Organising Secretary of the tournament Abdul Wahab thanked the players for putting up a wonderful display of tennis over the past three days.

“The way we have grown over the past seven years, I feel this tournament has the potential to be billed as premier tennis event in Jammu and Kashmir,” Wahad.

He thanked the District Lawn Tennis Association and Jammu and Kashmir Lawn Tennis Association for their support and guidance in the conduct of the event.

He also thanked Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council for providing logistics for the tournament.
