Srinagar, Oct 4 (JKNS): Kashmir witnessed an exceptional spell of October heat on Sunday, with several weather stations recording their highest or second-highest temperatures ever recorded for the month as maximum temperatures remained significantly above normal.
According to data shared by Kashmir Weather as per news agency JKNS,, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 31.2°C, making it the second-highest October temperature recorded at the station. It surpassed the previous October high of 31.1°C recorded on October 2, 2008.
The all-time October record for Srinagar stands at 33.9°C, recorded on October 2, 1931, while Sunday’s temperature was 5.7°C above normal.
At Qazigund, the maximum temperature reached 31.4°C, breaking the previous and all-time October record of 31.2°C recorded on October 1, 1985.
The temperature at Qazigund was 7.3°C above normal, making Sunday the hottest October day ever recorded at the station.
Gulmarg, despite its higher elevation, also witnessed exceptionally high temperatures. The resort recorded 23.2°C, surpassing the previous October high of 23.0°C recorded just a day earlier on October 3, 2026.
Gulmarg’s all-time October record stands at 23.4°C, recorded on October 1, 2009. Sunday’s temperature was 6.7°C above normal, making it the second-hottest October day on record at the resort.
Meanwhile, Kokernag recorded a maximum temperature of 29.4°C, breaking its previous and all-time October record of 29.2°C recorded on October 4, 2008.
The temperature at Kokernag was 5.8°C above normal, making Sunday the hottest October day ever recorded at the station. (JKNS)
