Srinagar, July 31 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered a fresh inquiry into the alleged unauthorised purchase of equipment by the then Executive Engineer, Public Works (R&B) Division, Budgam, by constituting a new Inquiry Committee to examine the matter and fix responsibility.
According to a Government Order issued by the Public Works (R&B) Department, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, the committee has been constituted in supersession of Government Order No. 245-PW(R&B) of 2024 dated August 14, 2024.
The order states that the fresh inquiry has been initiated following advice from the Finance Department vide U.O. No. FD-Code/406/2026-12-81 dated July 6, 2026. The matter relates to CCP No. 207/2022 in WP(C) No. 1192/2021, titled M/s New BT Enterprises vs UT of J&K and Others.
The committee has been tasked with establishing individual responsibility based on cogent evidence and conducting a comprehensive examination into the alleged unauthorised procurement of equipment made without budgetary provisions, without approval of the competent authority, and in violation of prescribed procurement rules and codal formalities.
The government has directed the Inquiry Committee to submit its report along with findings within 21 days from the date of issuance of the order.
The order further clarifies that any subsequent transfer or modification in the posting of officers nominated to the committee shall not exempt them from discharging the responsibilities assigned under the inquiry. (JKNS)
