Srinagar, July 22 (JKNS): BJP Jammu and Kashmir spokesperson Altaf Thakur on Wednesday strongly condemned the terror attack in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, alleging that the assault was aimed at disturbing peace and creating fear during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, which he said is witnessing record participation this year.
As per news agency JKNS, BJP’s Thakur strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Anantnag, describing it as a desperate attempt by anti-national elements to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the Valley at a time when the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is witnessing an unprecedented response from devotees across the country.
Expressing concern over the incident, Thakur said the attack was clearly intended to create fear and derail the successful conduct of the pilgrimage, which has so far been progressing peacefully with record participation.
“The enemies of peace are frustrated by the normalcy returning to Jammu and Kashmir and by the overwhelming response to this year’s Amarnath Yatra. Such cowardly acts are aimed at creating panic, but they will never succeed in weakening the resolve of our people or the nation’s commitment to ensuring peace in the region,” he said.
Thakur paid tribute to the security personnel and civilians affected by the attack and expressed solidarity with their families. He urged the security forces to remain extra vigilant and not lower their guard, especially as the pilgrimage continues through sensitive areas.
“The safety and security of every pilgrim and resident must remain the top priority. Our security agencies have done a commendable job in ensuring the smooth conduct of the Yatra, and they must continue to maintain the highest level of alertness to foil any attempt by terrorists to disturb peace,” he added.
Reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir, Thakur said terrorism was in its final phase and such isolated incidents reflected the desperation of forces opposed to the region’s progress.
He expressed confidence that the security establishment would bring those responsible to justice swiftly and ensure that the Amarnath Yatra continues without disruption. (JKNS)
