Official sources told news agency JKNS that General Subramani was briefed by senior Army commanders on the prevailing security scenario, anti-terror operations, counter-infiltration measures and preparedness for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra beginning July 3.

The review also covered operational readiness and deployment along the Line of Control.

Sources told JKNS that the CDS visited forward locations in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, where he interacted with field commanders and troops deployed in sensitive sectors.

He was briefed on the Anti-Infiltration Grid, recent infiltration attempts from across the border and operations undertaken by security forces to neutralise terrorists attempting to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir, they said.

The CDS is scheduled to visit Srinagar today, where he will review the security situation at the 15 Corps Headquarters before visiting forward areas in the Kashmir Valley as part of his ongoing assessment of operational preparedness.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth arrived in Leh on a three-day visit to Ladakh. During his tour, he is expected to interact with senior Army commanders, review the security situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and visit the Siachen Glacier, the world’s highest battlefield, to assess operational conditions and interact with troops deployed in extreme weather conditions.

Separately, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi also visited Leh, where he reviewed the security situation along the LAC with senior Army commanders. He assessed the operational preparedness of formations deployed in Eastern Ladakh and reviewed the current security environment following disengagement at several friction points.

General Dwivedi also called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.), and discussed strengthening civil-military cooperation, improving coordination between the armed forces and the civil administration, and advancing development initiatives in the Union Territory. The discussions also covered the possible re-employment of Agniveers in the UT administration.

During his visit, the Army Chief also toured the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre, where he reviewed training activities, operational capabilities and regimental developments. He appreciated the professionalism of the troops, commended their operational excellence in the challenging terrain of Ladakh and presented Commendation Cards to selected personnel in recognition of their distinguished service.
