Handwara, June 3 (JKNS): A 39-year-old man was injured after being attacked by a black bear in a forest area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday, officials said.
Officials told news agency JKNS that Nazir Ahmad Shabangi, son of Lal Din Shabangi and a resident of Malikpora Shilthera, was reportedly attacked by a black bear in a nearby forest while grazing and attending his cattle.
They said the victim sustained injuries in the attack and was immediately rescued by local residents, who shifted him to Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara for treatment.
Officials added that details regarding his medical condition and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are being ascertained.
